Political Reading
Since I finished school on Saturday, I had a need to maintain my informal education. I picked up an old book (1988) and began reading. The book is titled "The Power Game" written by Hendrick Smith. Although it is outdated by some twenty years, it contains insightful information about Washington politics. At the moment I am but 140 pages into the book, but it is surprising how much tax payer money our politicians waste so that they can remain in office. Did you know that they are permitted to mail letters and junk mail to any constituant by just signing their signature where we would affix a stamp? In the last figures stated by Smith, the cost of this mail to the taxpayer was over $200 million. Our politicians at that time also maintained a tv production staff that cost the taxpayers over $100 million a year. We need to be more vigilant about the money our politicians are spending
Beginning over again
I am beginning over again. There is a moment to relax, about 17 days until the journey begins. I need to finish out the quarter to make certain that I recieve the bonus and then the real work will begin. Presently I am doing the leg work and setting up the process.
